Overview
Everyone Village (E1V) is an innovative transitional housing community in West Eugene that provides individuals experiencing homelessness with a supportive environment to heal, rebuild, and prepare for the next chapter of their lives. Spanning 3.5 acres, the Village features over 60 individual dwelling units along with key social infrastructure, including:
Welcome Center
Resource Center
Workshop and Market Garden
Recycling Center
This unique blend of social and built infrastructure fosters a strong sense of community, enabling residents—called “Villagers”—to live sustainably and support each other. A defining element of E1V’s approach is the close integration of staff offices and gathering spaces, promoting organic connections between Villagers, staff, community partners, and neighbors.
Partnership with Team Oregon Build (TOB)
Becoming part of Team Oregon Build (TOB) has had a transformative impact on Everyone Village’s mission. Through TOB, local high school and middle school classes have directly contributed to the Village by constructing cottages, storage sheds, benches, and planter boxes.
This hands-on involvement by students and teachers has delivered not only high-quality structures but also fostered meaningful relationships between the students and the Villagers. These cross-generational connections enrich the community spirit at Everyone Village, creating a shared sense of purpose and belonging.
Impact and Growth
The collaboration with Team Oregon Build has been instrumental in expanding the Village into one of the largest and most cost-effective transitional housing programs in Lane County. Key outcomes include:
Over 50 individuals, previously living on the streets of Eugene, now have safe, dry housing.
Villagers have access to a stable, supportive environment where they can rebuild their lives and regain hope for the future.
Students participating in TOB not only gain construction skills but also develop empathy and social awareness by engaging with real-world challenges.
A New Model for Transitional Housing
Everyone Village, in partnership with Team Oregon Build, is reinventing the transitional housing model through collaborative, community-based solutions. This approach integrates education, workforce development, and social services to address homelessness in a sustainable and meaningful way.
The hands-on contributions from students have demonstrated that applied learning initiatives can have a lasting impact—not only on individual lives but also on community well-being. By bringing together educators, students, Villagers, and community partners, Everyone Village exemplifies how collective action can create scalable solutions to homelessness.
Conclusion
Everyone Village’s partnership with Team Oregon Build highlights the power of collaborative problem-solving in addressing complex social challenges like homelessness. Through this multi-generational, hands-on approach, both students and 29 Villagers gain valuable skills and experiences, building stronger connections to each other and the wider community.
By integrating education, social support, and transitional housing, Everyone Village offers a blueprint for cost-effective, sustainable solutions to homelessness. Together with Team Oregon Build, E1V demonstrates how applied learning and collective action can transform lives and communities.
As TOB continues, the initiative stands as a beacon for how state agencies, Tribes and industry can work in synergy, addressing pressing challenges while building a stronger and more resilient future for Oregon.
